Please hold surgery or dental patients off food after 10:00 p.m. the night before the procedure and please withhold water two hours before admission (no water after 6:30 a.m.). An empty stomach is one of the many safety precautions we take to ensure a smooth anesthesia experience.
Do not withhold food from birds or small mammals (guinea pigs, ferrets, rabbits, etc.) unless otherwise instructed.
If your pet is on medications please give the morning dose as you normally would on the morning of the surgery or dental cleaning. If you need to give a small piece of food (cheese, peanut butter, etc) to get the medication down this is OK. We just donĘt want the pet to have a full stomach. If you do not give your pet their medication the morning of surgery or dentistry please let us know.
Vaccinations are required for dogs and cats staying in the hospital. If your pet is not current, please discuss this with our staff prior to admission. You will be required to show proof of vaccinations if they were done elsewhere.
